The follow-up match was less thrilling as England easily beat Ireland 28-0. In a first half littered with too many handling errors, England’s tries were scored by Till, Todd and Turner and one conversion by Mark McKinley made the score 14-0 at half time.

The second half followed a similar pattern. Ireland’s inexperience could not breach the English defence and tries by man of the match Ian Gordon, Joe Brown and a second from Turner took the final score to 28-0.
