Valley Cougars 40 Titans 16

The Valley Cougars maintain their unbeaten record and sit atop the Welsh Conference Premier after an impressive 40-16 win against a strong Newport Titans side.

The first half was a pretty even affair as the teams traded opening tries with James Allen scoring for the Cougars and Joe Burke for the Titans.  They were converted by Ceri Cummins and Ross Bridgemont respectively.

The Cougars hit the front with Allens second and the try of the game as the Cougars showed some slick handling breaking from their own half for Allen to touch down under the sticks.  Cummins added the extras.

Lee Williams and Cummins stretched the lead before the Titans clawed a score back from Dalton Grant.  A Cummins penalty brought the score to 22-10 at the half.

The Cougars picked up the pace in the second with quick tries from Cummins and Ryan Jones, both of which were converted by Cummins. The Titans got on the scoresheet with Wayne Decruz before the Cougars wrapped up the game with a final try from Chris Watts.  Conversions from Bridgemont and Cummins brought the final score to 40-16.
