Blue Bulls 34 Demons 8
Bridgend continue 100% Welsh record
Bridgend Blue Bulls’ class showed in the second half at the Brewery Field as they took first blood in this year’s Welsh Conference Premier, beating Cardiff Demons 34-8.

The home side took the lead in the fifth minute following the turnover after some early Demons pressure. Dai Owen broke through the centre laying the ball off to Neil Dixon who had a free run down the wing to score.

Dixon could have another try four minutes later but was superbly tackled by Lee Mullane.

Demons equalised in the 14th minute. Andy Jones was brought to the ground after a typically forceful 30-metre run and from the resulting play-the-ball, Jamie Isles set-up debutante Miles Davies to ground.

They took the lead in the 20th minute after John Byers set up Lee Mullane for a try in the corner, but Bridgend replied in the 27th when Craig Fox grounded underneath the sticks. Jon Williams added the extras to give the Blue Bulls a slender 10-8 half-time advantage.

They increased their lead straight from kick-off, Dai Owen finishing off a good set of passes by grounding under the sticks, Jon Williams converting.

As just reward for their constant second half pressure, Bridgend sealed the game in the 61st minute with another converted Dai Owen try under the sticks.

Lenny Woodard and Jon Purnell finished off the scoring with a try each in the last three minutes to consolidate Bridgend’s 100% record against other Welsh sides.
