Valley Cougars 40 Swansea Bulls 28

Cynon’s biggest crowd of the season, just over 400, witnessed the Cougars leap above the Bulls in a thrilling clash. Swansea started the game strongly with powerful runs by forwards Roberts and Hunt and took an early lead with a well worked try by Gary Windle which went unconverted. The game was played at a frantic pace with both sides tough in defence and taking no prisoners, Mark Jones replying for the Cougars, Darren Williams converting.

Swansea hit back to lead 12-14 at the break and the second half started in a

similar vain to the first - both sets of forwards asking plenty of questions of each other.

Swansea posted an early try through Rob Beeny with a well worked move down the left flank before Cynon took the initiative setting up neat touchdowns for Mark 'Bobby' Jones and Matthew Phillips. The Bulls responded with further tries by Richard Bull and Gareth, Bull converting one but they had left themselves just too much to do.
