Wales Rugby League sign major kit deal

Wales shirt

Wales Rugby League has agreed a significant kit and team-wear deal with international company Samurai Sportswear.

The three year deal will see the Welsh international squad wear the newly designed shirt for the first time against England in the Gillette Fusion International in Doncaster on Friday 10 October.

The shirt features the three colours that make up the Welsh flag together with black and features more green and white then previous kits.

Mark Rowley, Wales Rugby League Chairman: “This is a big step for Welsh Rugby league to be going into partnership with Samurai as they have a rapidly expanding list of partners and we are keen to work together to promote the new shirt in Wales.

“The new shirt is a unique design and we are sure it will prove popular with the Welsh public. Simon, Damian, Michelle and the team at Samurai have been great to work with and we have been extremely impressed with their expertise and professionalism.”

Simon Hodgkinson, Sales Director Samurai Sportswear: “We are delighted to be producing the new Wales international shirt. Rugby League has a strong tradition in Wales and the sport is on the up in the country with the Crusaders getting into the engage Super League and the amateur game flourishing. Our retailers have already reacted very positively to the new shirt design and we are sure it will be very popular.”

As part of the new deal all the Wales representative junior and amateur teams will all be kitted out in the Samurai Sportswear specially designed team-wear. The new shirt will be priced £44.99 and will be in shops in time for Christmas along with a wide range of Wales Rugby League merchandise.

Wales Coach John Dixon, who was appointed to the role in June, will name his 19 man squad to face England on Tuesday.

With the recent retirements of established internationals such as Iestyn Harris and Lee Briers, coach Dixon is expected to name a number of locally produced players for the game against England.

Tickets for the Gillette Fusion International between England and Wales at Doncaster’s Keepmoat Stadium start from £10 for adults and £5 for concessions. To purchase tickets, please call 0871 226 1313 or visit www.rugbyleaguetickets.co.uk
