Demons 16 Tigers 32
A crowd of 200 were treated to an excellent game of rugby league in the totalrl.com summer conference season opener at Taffs Well Rugby Club, which Torfaen eventually won thanks to four second half tries. The two teams were locked at 10-10 at half time, Torfaen having led 6-2 and 10-6 with short range tries from Jason Reed and Matthew Williams. But Cardiff equalised each time with two Gareth Edwards tries, the second a length-of-the-field effort started by a clean break by stand-off Gareth Jones. Torfaen regained the lead after the break with tries from Richard Jenkins
 

and Leigh Taylor. Kyle Blake, a graduate of the Demons Junior set-up thought he had scored his first try for the senior side only to see it ruled out for a double movement. But Cardiff did bring the score back to 16-22 with a Gwion Bowen try on 71 minutes. After a period of furious attack from both sides, the game was decided three minutes from time with a 60 yard try from Tigers' Wales international forward Damien Hudd. Scrum half John Jenkins scored under the post in the last minute to put the icing on the cake for the men from Gwent.
